ECHO Ranch Berners

In 2002 we came to the mid-life crisis cliff and jumped!  We moved from Houston Texas and bought a working cattle ranch in SE Oklahoma complete with a herd of cattle!  Our previous largest lot was 1/16 of an acre and we bought 120 acres of the most beautiful land in the world.  Having never lived in the country it has been an experience!  We happened on the Bernese Mountain Dogs after our Corgi was killed by a rattle snake.  We knew we needed a larger herding dog and fell in love with this breed.  It's true that when you finally find yourself with a Berner you just don't know you ever got along with out them!  Whether they're herding cattle or kids their gentleness is just simply amazing.

What We Do

Here on the ranch our main business is rasing quality beef cattle.  We are a working cattle ranch although compared to our neighbors we are a "ranchette" :)  They both have several thousand acres.  The Berners are used to help with the cattle and as close members of the family.  Our male found a sick calf the other day and brought him to us.  Our female is excellent at keeping track of kids and keeping little ones in the yard.
